Ok, I hope I'm the right place for this, Malware Medic helped me before! I'll try to be thorough. I powered on Tuesday morning and immediately my computer began to freeze and/or run VERY slow! (I'm running Vista) This actually began maybe a week ago, but VERY infrequent; didnt think much of it. Well today, it has gone to poops! I got an error message as well with the following: logon process has failed to create the security options dialog Not a problem, did a little research and found that of course I'm not the only one with the problem. Come to find out that apparently its a notorious bug with windows (what I read) that once windows Defender goes out of date that this happends. Well it was so bad that I couldnt even get online so I can update it! So I try to go to safe mode and try then, but now I got a prompt that I was having issues with an old program in there (my fault, its a VERY old version of Office... forgot the compatibility issues) but either way, I've had it in there for quite a while.. now heres where I dont remember what came first... I believe the freezing was beginning to get worse, ended up rebooting and now I get ANOTHER prompt about Itunes I dont remember exactly what it said, something like problem finding DSOUND.dll. again, did some research and found out that I need to delete and reinstall... OK FINE!!! So all in all, I know what to do to repair it; remove office, reinstall Itunes and update windows defender.. NOW FINALLY HERES THE PROBLEM. (thanks for your time. I get to it about an hour ago to do so, I wasnt able to get into safe mode, all it does is give the screen where it boots up and give all the multiple files its opening like C:/windows/...... etc. well it just sits there? So I try just logging on to windows normally, got in and tried to log on to do the update... BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH appears and automatically shuts down. So thats where I'm at, every time I try to open windows either in safe mode or normally, it will blink for half a second the BS of Death and reboot... somewhere in all that I tried to login at previous restore point, but I dont have one. umm... what else? Oh yea, on one of the times I WAS able to get in to safe mode (and actually this last time I was able to get in normally) I was prompted with like 4 error messages in regards to some programs with some having to do with security fields some with idk what... Is this something I can do on my own with guidance? Or do I need a tech? My bro in law is an expert tech and has the ability to crack it, he's got the necessary software and such, but I dont want to bother him with this just yet and he also lives out of town. I ALSO dont want to spend the $million$ an hour to take it to a shop either . I KNOW this is something I can do, i'm not ignorant to this, just need the guidance. I'm sure I can do a complete restore, but I cant loose some very important stuff I just put in that I haven't got the chance to back up yet.... Thanks for the help.

Hi, our host and malware hunter still seems to be missing in action. If you need help, I think it's best to look for a different board, sorry.

Ok I can't do anything with IE... I use FF anyway so I'm not sure why IE is being so intrusive. All of a sudden I get 'apparent' Windows System Alerts & IE is trying to force me to install spyware removal. The list of "detected" malware is long but I initiated no such detection process. My desktop looks like a billboard for the spys! I'm afraid to do any online scan because that is what this virus wants me to do!! There are so many I don't know which is legitimate! Here is my hijack this log. My browser tells me that the links I am to use before posting this log are dead but I think that is part of these symptoms. Hi Charles, Windsor the Malware Hunter has been unavailable as of late due to some personal things. You might consider going over to http://www.malwareteks.com and getting help from them over there, as they will probably be able to get you a solution quicker than you will over here.
